WhatsApp Multiple Users

One number. As many users as you need.

You hit the linked-device limit, or the "one phone, five people" workflow finally broke. This page is the fix: real multi-user access to a single WhatsApp number, without the Business API.

Four linked devices is not a team

The WhatsApp Business app allows four linked devices. Device number five is where growing businesses get stuck.

Devices are not users

Even within the limit, linked devices share one anonymous identity: no logins, no roles, no record of who answered.

The API cure can be worse

The official multi-agent route, the Business API, means approval, a separate number or migration, template rules and per-message fees.

Workarounds leak data

Shared phones, shared WhatsApp Web sessions and "just use your personal number" all end with business conversations the business cannot see.

The three ways to get multiple users on WhatsApp

Route one: linked devices in the WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business app. Free, but capped at four companion devices, and every device acts as the same anonymous user. Workable for two people, painful for five.

Route two: the WhatsApp Business API through a BSP. Genuinely multi-agent, but you apply for access, usually move to a dedicated number, pay template fees per message plus a monthly platform fee, and lose the normal app experience entirely.

Route three: Spun. It connects to your existing number as a linked device, then adds the multi-user layer in its own inbox: individual logins for unlimited teammates, assignment, scoped access and shared history. No API, no migration, no per-message fees.

Why "who sent that?" matters

Multi-user without identity creates a new problem: replies with no author. In Spun every message sent from the shared inbox is tied to the teammate who sent it, every chat has an assignee, and access can be scoped per person, so multiple users means more capacity, not less accountability.

Multi-user, done properly

Unlimited users

Every teammate gets a personal login to the shared number. No four-device ceiling.

Per-user identity

Sent messages are attributed internally, so you always know who answered.

Assignment

Chats have owners. Two people answering one customer stops happening.

Web and mobile

Browser on the desktop, Spun app on iOS and Android. The owner's phone can stay in a drawer.

AI leverage

Summaries and drafted replies make every additional user faster, not just more numerous.

Instant offboarding

Remove a login in seconds; the history stays with the business.

Up and running in an afternoon

1

Link Spun to your number

One QR scan from the phone that owns the number, exactly like linking WhatsApp Web.

2

Create user accounts

Invite each teammate; they sign in as themselves on web or mobile.

3

Scale past four

Five users, ten, forty: the flat plan does not care, and neither does the number.

Frequently asked questions

How many users can WhatsApp Business have?

The WhatsApp Business app itself supports one phone plus up to four linked devices, all acting as one identity. With Spun on top, one number supports unlimited users, each with their own login.

Can two people use the same WhatsApp account at the same time?

With linked devices, yes, up to the device cap and with shared identity. With Spun, any number of teammates work the same number simultaneously, each signed in as themselves.

Do I need the WhatsApp Business API for multiple agents?

No. The API is one route, but it brings approval, templates and per-message fees. Spun adds multi-agent access to the number you already have, with no API involved.

Will WhatsApp ban a number for using multiple users this way?

Spun connects through WhatsApp's own linked-device mechanism, the same one WhatsApp Web uses. What gets numbers restricted is spammy behavior: messaging people who never opted in or blasting identical messages. Spun's broadcast tools build in caution for exactly that reason.

Does the main phone need to stay online?

After linking, the phone does not need to stay open. Like WhatsApp's own linked devices, the phone needs to come online periodically to keep the link healthy.

Your organisation is homed on one data cell - new organisations are created on the EU cell in Nuremberg, Germany - and isolated from every other organisation by PostgreSQL row-level security. You control per-service what reaches an AI provider. Read the security overview.
